just to let you know, mischievous kiss is not the japanese version of the korean drama, playful kiss. both stories are based on an original japanese manga :)
Well I used a specific example in my title for a more generalized comment/idea I had about watching a Japanese show instead of the Korean shows I usually watch. I had always suspected, as I have not previously watched a lot of Japanese shows that weren’t animated, that Korean television would feel more restricted. That being said….
I am very sorry for not taking more time to completely flush out all of my knowledge about the shows and their origins before posting.
Really, I was just talking about the comparison I was drawing between the older Korean show versus the newer Japanese one, not about the materials origin. I guess it would have been better to say, “I never would have expected to feel less sexual tension between the characters in the Japanese version than I did in the Korean version. And I mean this on a script and staging level more than on an actor chemistry level.”
If there is one thing I realized watching Playful Kiss it was that it was based on a manga, they make it pretty obvious even without reading the Dramafever page or Kim Hyun-joong’s Wikipedia. Oh, hell I don’t even know if Dramafever has that on there. I’m going to look ignorant again.

I never would have thought there would be less sexual tension in a Japanese version of a kdrama. My preconceptions based on previous things I’ve seen from Japan are totally shattered.

Hell we don’t need black people to actually be there, we can just think about black people and start acting ghetto. That is how poorly we roll.
So I hate when I am watching a kdrama and I get to the last few episodes and decide I hate the entire cast of characters. What mother would act like that? How does no one communicate with each other about their lives? Who acts like that? SERIOUSLY! I guess it’s for dramatic effect but it just seems stupid to me…
